Lois Skillings is a nurse, healthcare leader, executive coach, and consultant.
With a strong background in executive leadership, she has served in a variety of roles including that of hospital president and chief nursing officer. Lois is a trusted and experienced executive coach to healthcare and community non-profit chief executives as well as senior and emerging leaders. She is a dynamic facilitator of strategic planning and team retreats.
Lois worked for Mid Coast – Parkview Health for 43 years. During her 12-year tenure as President, Lois led the organization’s senior executive team and was responsible for the strategic and operational performance of the Mid Coast–Parkview Health system. For 16 years she was Chief Nurse and Vice President of Nursing and Patient Services, leading the organization to achieve Magnet recognition in 2009.
As President/CEO, Lois led the integration of Parkview Adventist Medical Center into the Mid Coast Health system, uniting the region’s healthcare around a common vision for improving the health of the community. In 2020, Lois led Mid Coast–Parkview Health’s merger with MaineHealth—Maine’s largest healthcare system—to ensure clinical excellence and high-quality healthcare in the community for generations to come.
Lois earned her nursing degree at Northeastern University College of Nursing, her baccalaureate degree from the University of the State of New York, and her master’s degree in nursing administration and Adult Health from the University of Southern Maine. She worked for many years at the bedside in Medical Surgical and Emergency Department Nursing. She became a Robert Wood Johnson Executive Nurse Fellow in 2008 and was recognized as one of Mainebiz Magazine’s “Women to Watch” in 2015.
Since retiring in 2023, Lois serves on the board of Bath Savings Institution and the University of Southern Maine Foundation board of directors. She has served as a director/trustee for more than a dozen healthcare and community not-for-profit boards. She represents MaineHealth on the Mid Coast-Parkview Health/LincolnHealth Community Health Improvement Fund committee. Lois is active in the national nursing organization, NurseTRUST, and volunteers for many community and nursing development initiatives. She lives in Brunswick, Maine with her husband, Jim.
